2. Alabama would help Dabo in recruiting
Recruiting is tough to do at Clemson. The fact that Dabo Swinney has developed his talent is why he is so successful. Outside of a few studs per class, the recruiting pitch hasn’t really worked.
Almost every year, Alabama gets better recruits that Clemson. This is for many reasons, but not all of them revolve around Saban. Alabama has the history of Bear Bryant, the top-level facilities, a great training staff, and it is in the heart of college football. It is easy to recruit the states of Alabama, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Dabo has been able to poach a few players from these states, but Alabama would give him a pipeline for talent outside of the state.
If Dabo replaced Nick Saban at the Capstone, he would instantly have the best recruiting class every single season. Pair the class with his ability to find diamonds in the rough and develop players into college football stars, and Alabama would be a powerhouse for the entirety of his contract.
Dabo could probably still get a ton of recruits to Clemson. He’s gotten better at doing this almost every year he’s been their head coach. However, the majority of his recruits buy solely into him as a coach and person.
If he went to Alabama, he would still get these recruits, and he could also get the recruits that buy into the ability to play in the SEC, the training staff, and the history of Alabama football. Swinney simply can’t build the history of Alabama while he is at Clemson. Alabama’s history spans over decades of success. It would be icing on the cake of the Dabo Swinney recruiting pitch.
