1. Sav’ell Smalls, 5-star OLB

I’m not sure how high Alabama’s odds of getting Sav’ell Smalls are, but he would still be a great grab for the Tide. Outside linebacker is a key to Alabama’s defense, and Smalls would be a great one.

Smalls is the top outside linebacker in the 2020 class. He’s also the top player in the state of Washington. He even plays some receiver in high school, which shows how athletic he is. Not many outside linebackers are skilled enough to be quality receivers.

Clearly, any team will be lucky to have Smalls on their team. Alabama is one of the top contenders, but Florida State seems to have the inside track on him. There is still a lot of time before he makes his decision, so Alabama has a chance to get back in the race.

Florida State is desperate to turn around their football program, and Smalls would go a long way in doing that. Their pitch to him might be the fact that he could be the man that turns around a historic football program. That would be very different when you compare it to the pitch that Alabama would have for him, but every player has different priorities.

If Smalls did decide to come to Alabama, he could possibly give the Tide the top recruiting class in the nation. The rest of the pieces still need to fall into place, but he’s the type of talent that puts classes over the top in the rankings. No matter what the odds are, it is safe to say that Alabama will be recruiting him hard this summer and fall.
