Alabama Football: 3 reasons 2019 will be Nick Saban’s last season
By Brian Miller
Nick Saban is still at the top of his game, but if he has another title-winning season in 2019, it could be his last coaching Alabama football.
The 2019 season is already gearing up to be one of the most drama-filled college football campaigns in recent memory, but will it also wind up being Nick Saban’s last?
Saban will be turning 68 this year and although he’s very much at the top of his game and widely regarded as the greatest college coach of all time, it might be just as good a time as any to step away from college ball to spend his remaining years on something else.
With this in mind here are the three reasons that Nick Saban might be retiring at the end of the 2019 season.
3. Age
Although many Alabama might wish Nick Saban could coach the Crimson Tide forever, he’s unfortunately very much a mortal just like everyone else and in a couple of years, he’ll be in his 70s.
It’s hard to think about Saban being interested in anything other than football, but in the event, he actually does have a few non-football related passions that he’d like to enjoy before he can’t anymore — it’s probably a good time to begin focusing on them.
The stress from coaching this level of college football clearly takes its toll on people and you don’t need to be a doctor to know that it’s not the healthiest thing for someone who’s approaching 70 to be doing for 12 plus hours a day.
