Alabama football is always led by seniors on and off the field and 2019 won’t be any different. Who are the top guys for Alabama this season?
There is always veteran leadership for Alabama football. When the Tide field a team, upperclassmen always play a key role. Even when there are young stars, they usually have to wait their turn to work up the ranks and make it on the field. This year will be no different.
Most of the production on the field comes from juniors and seniors. The problem with Alabama is that so many juniors leave for the NFL and forego their senior season with the Tide. This happened last year with stars like Josh Jacobs, Irv Smith, Mack Wilson and Deionte Thompson.
However, you occasionally get a player who wants to return for some reason or another. Sometimes, they need the extra year to prove themselves as an NFL prospect. Some just want to come back because they don’t want their college career to end. No matter what the case may be, seniors are vital for any successful championship team.
This year, you have about seven or so seniors that will likely be starters for the Tide. The wild cards are Jared Mayden and Joshua McMillon, so I decided to keep them off of this list until they get a chance to prove themselves in 2019.
Outside of them, you have five players who have done a lot for the Tide, and all of them project to be key pieces to Alabama’s success this season. Some will be captains. Some will be fringe NFL prospects. Others will be locks in the first round. No matter what their potential role is for Alabama football, here are the top five seniors for the Crimson Tide in 2019.
These guys will carry the team both on and off the field as they attempt to make it back to the national championship.
