In many ways the Aggies’ matchup against Auburn will be the first true tipping point of the 2019 season. The beginning of the SEC schedule is notable, as is the road team’s overwhelmingly dominant performance in this series. More than that, though, this could be the game which turns a so-and-so record into a good one or a great record into an elite one.

Most sportsbooks have Texas A&M pegged to win 7.5 games in 2019. With games against Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and LSU on their schedule, the maroon and white have precious little wiggle room.

If they’re able to run that gauntlet the rest of the schedule shouldn’t be much of a challenge. If they can’t, beating teams like Auburn becomes critical.

Fortunately for Texas A&M, Auburn will be trotting out a new quarterback after the departure of Jarrett Stidham. Kellen Mond matched up against either redshirt freshman Joey Gatewood or true freshman Bo Nix in their first SEC Road start tips the scales in favor of the good guys.

Record: 3-1 (1-0)
