Defensive Line

Starting defensive ends: Tyree Johnson, Michael Clemons
Backups: Max Wright, Jeremiah Martin, DeMarvin Leal

Let’s start with Michael Clemons. After finding his way into the starting lineup in 2018, a foot injury derailed his season before it really got started. Now, after a stellar spring, he has found his way right back into that conversation. The redshirt senior will be looking to put an exclamation point on his Aggie career and if he continues what he has been doing he is right on his way to doing just that.

Redshirt sophomore Tyree Johnson finished 2018 strong and was able to edge then senior Landis Durham out of his defensive end spot. We look for him to start the season at the opposite defensive end spot and if he can keep up his production, he may stay there. If not, those guys listed as backups are ready and waiting for an opportunity to show their stuff.

Starting nose tackle: Bobby Brown or Mohamed Diallo
Backup: Derrick Hunter

Texas A&M has three guys that could fill this hole and honestly the position isn’t anywhere close to figured out as to who the starter will be. All three are upwards of 300 pounds and extremely hard to move. Each has something they bring to the table and somethings that they need to fix. Bobby Brown needs to be more physical with his hands. Mohamed Diallo has a lot to prove as he redshirted a season ago, giving the coaches only spring to go off of. Hunter is a true freshman with a lot to prove as well. However, any of these guys could grab that position come the season opener.

Starting defensive tackles: Justin Madubuike, Jayden Peevy
Backups: Derrick Hunter, Josh Rogers

Justin Madubuike is certainly a starter — there is no question about it. The question is simply who will be the guy opposite him. My guess is Jayden Peevy, but true freshman Derick Hunter or sophomore Josh Rogers could sneak in there as could someone like Bobby Brown or Diallo depending on the formation.
