Ending the season on the road won’t be easy for Iowa State, but it’ll get to face a team that could be in a rebuilding year under new head coach Chris Klieman who has gone from FCS to FBS.
It’ll be weird without Bill Snyder roaming the sidelines of the stadium named after him, but Kansas State is still going to be a decent team with Skylar Thompson at quarterback. Heck, the Wildcats may actually have a solid offense for once.
Last season, Kansas State ranked No. 111 in the nation in scoring and 114th in total offense. They didn’t have much of anything to speak of on the offensive side of the ball, but Thompson is one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the conference with a high ceiling — he didn’t get much of a workload in the passing game last season.
Even with Thompson back, along with two of his leading receivers from a year ago, Iowa State’s offense will just be too much to handle.
Kansas State could be a bowl-bound team, but if it comes down to the last game of the season, they’ll be in trouble.
Final Score: Iowa State 27, Kansas State 17 (9-3, 6-3)
