Spencer Sanders

Sanders was the Texas 2017-2018 Gatorade State Player of the Year. He came in to Oklahoma State last year with a lot of hype surrounding him and ended up redshirting. This allowed him to get a full year of college under his belt and get accustomed at a top program.

Like most highly-recruited high school quarterbacks, Sanders put up ridiculous numbers in high school. In fact, he threw for just under 9,000 yards, had several seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing and had 146 total touchdowns. Those numbers are a few reasons why Oklahoma State is so excited about Sanders potential.

However, he has not been named the starting quarterback yet. Let’s look at a few things Sanders would bring to the table as the starter as well as a few clips from his high school career.

What Sanders brings as the starter

  • Sanders would bring a ton of excitement to the fan base
  • The quicker he is on the field, the quicker he is able to get experience and develop
  • Athletic quarterback who can make something out of nothing — can beat you with his legs and his arm
  • Still has to beat out Brown and you don’t want to force him to start if he isn’t ready

Below shows Sanders ability to make something out of nothing. Good job escaping the pocket and finding an open receiver.

Below shows Sanders doing a nice job standing in the pocket despite the rush and delivering an accurate ball over the middle of the field.

The excitement surrounding this kid is real.
