Max Duggan, a former four-star recruit

Max Duggan was a four-star recruit according to 247Sports, as well as the Iowa Gatorade Player of The Year — he was one of TCU’s top signees for the 2019 class. He’s another dual-threat guy that TCU has on the roster as he threw for over 2,000 yards and rushed for over 1,000 yards his senior year of high school.

TCU had to hold off Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and others, as Duggan had offers from numerous top schools. With the starting job as wide open as it is, it would not be a surprise is Duggan got his chance to showcase his ability at some point this season, despite being a true freshman.

Takeaway

In all honesty, I have no idea how this competition will end up. With TCU’s first game against an FCS opponent, I would imagine several guys get valuable playing time that first game. With a crowded competition, so many things can happen before the season starts.

A transfer from someone is always a possibility, especially if Matthew Baldwin is eligible. If he is eligible, that’ll change the whole competition.

Regardless who ends up being the main guy this year, it is a safe bet that Gary Patterson will have TCU competitive in the Big 12. With that said, whenever Patterson gets solid quarterback play, they always seem to be in contention for the Big 12 title.
