Washington Huskies: Napoleon Kaufman, Steve Emtman, Lincoln Kennedy, Sonny Sixkiller
With over 730 wins as a program, the Washington Huskies have enjoyed their fair share of success in the college football world. Commonly referred to as “Quarterback U”, Washington has the longest unbeaten streak in history at 64 games, and the second longest winning streak at 40.
Napoleon Kaufman
A high school All-American before enrolling at Washington, Napoleon Kaufman would go on to be one of the more special running backs the school had ever seen. One of three backs to rush for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons, Kaufman was twice named the team’s Most Valuable Player, while being named an all-conference player on three occasions.
Steve Emtman
One of the better defensive end prospects the college football world had seen a long time, Steve Emtman appeared to be a can’t-miss player after a stunning career at Washington. The winner of the 1991 Outland, Lombardi, and UPI Lineman of the Year awards, Emtman was the No. 1 overall selection in the 1992 NFL Draft, but never really panned out at the pro level. Still, he is an absolute legend for this Huskies program and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Lincoln Kennedy
During his time at Washington, Lincoln Kennedy developed a reputation as an absolute mauler from his offensive tackle spot, becoming the best offensive lineman in school history. In fact, Kennedy was twice named the Morris Trophy winner, given to the conference’s best lineman, and was an All-American in 1992. Kennedy would go on to be the No. 9 overall pick in the 1992 NFL Draft.
Sonny Sixkiller
There was not a ton of hype when it came to Sonny Sixkiller as he entered the University of Washington, but when all was said and done, he had become one of the better quarterbacks in school history. Sixkiller took over the program as a sophomore, reversing the fortunes of the program and would go on to set 15 records as the team’s starting quarterback. In 1971 and 1972, he led the team to 16 wins and finished with 35 touchdown passes for his career.
