10. JJ Taylor, Arizona

The first of two running backs from the Grand Canyon State, JJ Taylor has become one of the most explosive players in the conference. At 5-foot-6 and 184 pounds, you almost have to be explosive.

In 2018 he carried for 1,434 yards, but only six touchdowns. For Taylor to make a run at New York, he’ll certainly have to find the endzone more often this year.

That shouldn’t be tough in Arizona’s offense which ranked third in the Pac-12 in scoring last season and has Khalil Tate at quarterback. Kevin Sumlin still has plenty to prove but he has one heck of a one-two punch.

Arizona may not be a serious contender in the Pac-12, but if it can win 8-9 games and Taylor has an even more productive 2019 season, he could be invited to New York in December.

Will he win the award? That’ll be tough to steal it from some guys ranked higher on this list.
