Beau Muhlbach, Guard (2005-08)

Anybody remember Beau Muhlbach? The undersized point guard was a sniper from three-point range and always seemed to make an impact when the Ags squared off with a marquee opponent. I’ll never forget back in 2008 when the Ags and first-year head coach Mark Turgeon squared off with the #1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 tournament. The eventual national champs were led by future first-round picks Brandon Rush, Cole Aldrich, and Mario Chalmers.

The trio of All-Americans were supposed to blow the Maroon and White off the floor that night. Instead, a gritty Texas A&M ball club took the Jayhawks down to the wire behind some tenacious team defense and clutch shooting by Muhlbach (11 second-half points off the bench).

They would ultimately fall short after Chalmers knifed his way through the lane and laid the ball in with just a few seconds left to play, however, Beau’s performance will go down as one of my favorite moments in the Turgeon era.
