Alabama Football: 5 former players the Tide will miss most in 2019
By Dakota Cox
It’s a yearly tradition for Alabama football to replace talent every season. Who will be the hardest to replace this year?
One of the greatest things about college football is the rotation of talent every year. With players only being allowed to compete for three to five years, close to a quarter of the roster has to be replaced every season. Fans can’t fall in love with star players for 12 years. They’re lucky if a guy starts for three whole seasons. That makes Alabama football’s recent run so impressive.
Every year, the Tide have stars enter the NFL Draft. They usually get the pleasure of replacing those stars with new stars, but it doesn’t always work like that. Whether a player is too talented to replace or they have an unproven replacement, there are sometimes issues going from one season to the next.
Alabama is luckier than usual. The majority of their offensive weapons (including their Heisman finalist quarterback) are all returning. However, they have to replace their two top running backs and two offensive linemen. Defensively, they lost stars like Quinnen Williams, Isaiah Buggs and Christian Miller. Who will the Tide miss the most going into 2019?
This article is written from a play perspective. Fans will certainly miss the abilities and personality of Damien Harris, but they have talented running backs replacing him. They will also miss Jalen Hurts, but they will be perfectly fine with their starting quarterback as long as he remains healthy.
Without any further delay, here are the five former Alabama football players that the Tide will miss the most going into the 2019 season.
