Previewing the offense

With 34.6 points per game, Buffalo finished third in the MAC and set a school record. The quarterback that led them to that record exhausted his eligibility, but the Bulls will now lean on a running back to carry this offense.

MAC Freshman of the Year Jaret Patterson rushed for 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2018, and that came on only 183 attempts. His workload will increase this season, and he could have a very strong statistical season.

After the transfer of tight end Tyler Mabry to Maryland, Julian Bourassa and Jake Molinich, both juniors, will get snaps this year.

On the outside, two other players with experience will take over at receiver. Sophomore Charlie Jones and junior Antonio Nunn combined for 541 yards in 2018, and that number will shoot up as they become the primary targets in 2019.

Replacing Jackson at quarterback will be a tall task. Kyle Vantrease is a redshirt sophomore who sat out last season after seeing some action in 2017. And 6-5, 220-pound recruit Trevor Bycznski is expected to be the man of the future, but he likely won’t start right away.
