Weakness: Defensive line

This is a weakness that might turn into a strength by the end of the season. Defensive linemen are often late bloomers in terms of production. We have to wait to see who the Quinnen Williams of 2020 is. However, the depth is still not where you would like for it to be at this point.

As of now, the class is top-heavy. You have plenty of stars that will be drafted in the first round, but there aren’t multi-year starters that will be taken in later rounds. Many of these players will emerge as they play this season, but there should be more prospects at this point in the scouting process.

On that top-heavy note, there are plenty of great players. As an edge rusher, Chase Young might be the first player drafted in 2020. He will compete with A.J. Epenesa and potentially Kenny Willekes to be the best edge rusher in this class.

You also have Raekwon Davis as a typical defensive lineman. Davis was expected declare for last year’s draft and go in the first round, but he decided to play for one more year and join this weaker class. He will compete against Derrick Brown from Auburn to be the best player inside.

Another reason why this class might appear to be weak is simply because the entire defensive line was stacked last season. If you needed a guy on the defensive line, you would’ve gotten him last season. Teams will likely focus on needs last year’s class weren’t able to fill, such as running back and wide receiver.
