Temple Football: Preview, prediction for Owls’ 2019 season

The Temple football team enters the 2019 season with a new coach — albeit not the one they’d hoped for — but the same philosophy on offense and defense.

Jilted at the altar by now Miami head coach Manny Diaz, the Temple Owls come into this season with former Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey as their head man.

Although Carey was not the Owls’ No. 1 choice, they could not have asked for a better replacement after the Diaz fiasco.

Since the days of Al Golden building the program, the Owls have gained the reputation of being physical, running the football and playing tough defense. That’s what makes Carey perfect for the job.
