Matt Wells has first media days appearance

One of the new coaches to the Big 12 this year is Texas Tech’s Matt Wells who was very successful at Utah State and has made the transition to the Power Five from the Group of Five level. He brings with him a reputation for defense and his offensive coordinator who likes to score lots of points.

Wells was asked about quarterback Alan Bowman’s health and he said that his gunslinger has been fully cleared. He mentioned that Bowman is a great athlete that works hard and his craft. While Wells mentioned that he could still work on fundamentals he has all the tools to be a good quarterback in the Big 12.

When talking about how his offensive scheme will differ from past, Wells was asked specifically about the tight end. He also stated that the tight end position was an important part of his offense. He made a point to mention that at time you will see one flexed out wide like a wide receiver.
