2. Who will play quarterback for Miami?

The Hurricanes have been arguably the most talented team in the ACC Coastal for quite some time now.

However, the Hurricanes have struggled to recognize their full potential on offense due to frequently inept quarterback play.

Because of this, Miami has been one of the more disappointing teams in college football over the last handful of seasons, as wins have been left on the field despite having one of the most talented rosters top-to-bottom in the ACC.

After an off-season filled with turnover on the coaching staff, former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz now moves into his new role as the team’s head coach, replacing Mark Richt.

Diaz will look to find some semblance of consistency at quarterback, as he identifies a replacement for Malik Rosier, who kept getting playing time and infinite chances from the departed Richt — for some reason. It drove Miami fans crazy.

Now Diaz, along with new offensive coordinator Dan Enos, will have plenty of talented options in their quarterback room as they look to remedy the most important position on the field.

Tate Martell, who was a consensus four-star recruit, has transferred into the program from Ohio State and was granted immediate eligibility as a sophomore. He has garnered unbelievable hype, but is largely an unknown commodity as a college quarterback.

Redshirt-sophomore N’Kosi Perry gained experience as a starter in spots a year ago, but will need to improve off of his redshirt-freshman campaign in which he completed only 51% of his passes for 1,091 yards and 13 touchdown passes.

And then there’s redshirt-freshman Jarren Williams, who was another consensus four-star recruit coming out of high school.

He will look to see the field in a larger capacity this fall under center after appearing in just one game in 2018. Williams finished 1-for-3 for 17 yards, and had a one-yard touchdown run in the team’s blowout of Savannah State.

While talented, Williams is another guy who’s stock at the college level is largely unknown.

Nobody seems to know what will happen at quarterback at Miami in 2019, but if the team finds true answers at quarterback for the first time in years, the Hurricanes could emerge as the runaway favorite in the ACC Coastal, and a much better team nationally than most people expect.

Look for plenty of questions for head coach Manny Diaz at the ACC Kickoff surrounding the quarterback position and the development of his players this summer.
