4. Louisiana-Monroe (2007)
Final Score: Alabama 14, ULM 21
This game is often forgotten by Alabama fans. It was before any of the talks of an Alabama football dynasty. Although many loved the Saban hire, he hadn’t proven anything yet. Many expected growing pains until he was able to recruit his own players, but no one expected to lose to Louisiana-Monroe.
Alabama struggled across the board in this game. John Parker Wilson threw two interceptions, the defense gave up 295 yards and 21 points, and nothing was working on special teams. This was Alabama’s third straight loss in a season that saw them go 7-6.
There was nothing on the line in this game. The Tide had already clinched a bowl game, and they were out of the race for the division. This was simply a pride game, and they played terribly. It was one of the worst games in Alabama football history.
Although many simply forget about this season when they think of Nick Saban at Alabama, the fans could not forget when the game happened. As they walked out of the stadium in 2007, no one said a word. Fans were just dejected and frustrated by the performance they just witnessed. Things got better, but that doesn’t take away from this horrible loss.
