Can Feleipe Franks take the next step?

Dan Mullen has always had a reputation as a quarterback guy, and over the course of his career, he’s backed it up. As the offensive coordinator at Florida, he coached Tim Tebow to one of the greatest careers a quarterback has ever had in the sport. At Mississippi State, he led Dak Prescott to possibly the most prestigous job a man can have in sports, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

Last year, however, may have been Mullen’s most impressive coaching job. Feleipe Franks threw for nearly 1,000 more yards in 2018 than he did the year before. He also improved his touchdown-to-interception ration, going from 9-8 in 2017 to 24-6 last season.

Franks has three senior wideouts to lean on. Tyrie Cleveland, Van Jefferson and Josh Hammond are all poised for big seasons as Mullen and Franks continue to improve together.

The passing game will be aided by a strong ground game. Lamical Perine rushed for 826 yards and seven touchdowns last year. Franks himself contributed on the ground as well, gaining 350 yards and finding the endzone seven times.

If everything comes together, this Florida offense is poised for a breakout season.
