The Ole Miss offense will be fun

Considering the controversies of recent years, landing at 5-7 with a really good offense isn’t a horrific place to be. Entering year three, however, Matt Luke now needs to move from stabilizing Ole Miss to winning at Ole Miss.

That can only come if quarterback Matt Corral is successful. If you ask him, that will be the case.

Benefiting from the new rule, which allows a player to maintain a year of eligibility if they play in four or fewer games, Corral enters 2019 as a freshman with experience. He got snaps in 2018, but now with Jordan Ta’amu out of Oxford, it is Corral’s offense.

He takes over a unit that ranked fifth nationally and first in the SEC in passing offense last year.

Running back Scottie Phillips returns in 2019 as well. He came just shy of the 1,000-yard mark, but he averaged 6.1 yards per carry and found the endzone 12 times last season.
