Wyoming Football: Can Cowboys continue momentum in 2019?
Schedule and predictions
The games aren’t played on paper — it’s an old adage, but when doing preseason predictions it’s something to remember. Wyoming’s schedule isn’t the most difficult, but it will be a challenge.
Let’s get into the predictions.
- Game 1: Missouri (L) — Wyoming tends to play Power Five schools well, but I think Missouri and their defense and Kelly Bryant at quarterback are just too much for the Cowboys to handle.
- Game 2: at Texas State (W) — The Cowboys will get their first win of 2019 on the road.
- Game 3: Idaho (W) — Cowboys get a home win over the Vandals.
- Game 4: at Tulsa (W) — Tulsa can be tough at home but I think Wyoming’s defense can stop the Golden Hurricane.
- Game 5: UNLV (W) — This game is in Laramie, and I think Wyoming runs away with it.
- Game 6: at San Diego State (L) — This one could be an offensive shoot out, but the Aztecs have more going for them with the game being in San Diego. Aztecs win.
- Game 7: New Mexico (W) — Lobos don’t have the defense to stop Wyoming’s rushing attack.
- Game 8: Nevada (W) — This game could go either way, I’m going with the home team.
- Game 9: at Boise State (L) — Wyoming is not on the same level as Boise State yet, Cowboys get their third loss of the year.
- Game 10: at Utah State (L) — Much like Boise State, Utah State is at another level than Wyoming.
- Game 11: Colorado State (L) — Wyoming has won three straight in this rivalry. I think that ends in 2019.
- Game 12: at Air Force: (W) — Cowboys rebound and get a season ending victory on the road over Air Force.
Many of these games are coin tosses and can go in Wyoming’s favor like the game against Colorado State. It’s a rivalry game, you never know what the outcome can be in those types of games.
The 2019 season provides an opportunity in which Wyoming can improve upon last year and set themselves up well for a bowl game, which I think they will do. 7-5, as predicted, is definitely doable for the Wyoming Cowboys in 2019.
