Run game will look to carry offense in 2019

Bowling Green transfer quarterback James Morgan had a really good year for the Panthers last season with over 2,700 yards passing and 26 touchdowns. However, the ground game is where FIU’s bread is buttered.

The Panthers boast a potential three-headed hydra at running back with incumbent starter Napoleon Maxwell, Anthony Jones and DeVonte` Price all looking to get carries for a team that averaged close to 180 yards on the ground. That number should increase with Jones healthy.

That doesn’t mean the passing game is mediocre. As previously mentioned, Morgan had a solid season after transferring in from Bowling Green. They will miss CJ Worley who left early for the NFL, but still have a complement of receivers including Austin Maloney and Maurice Alexander.

The offensive line was outstanding as well, allowing the third-fewest sacks in the country. Another year in the system can do nothing but help Morgan especially with a full complement of skilled position players around him.
