5. Cale Gundy

First of all, his name is a homophone for quite possibly the most disgusting vegetable known to humankind.

Second, he’s blood betrayal to Mike Gundy personified. Hey, let coach and momma enjoy Thanksgiving dinner in peace.

Third — oh, wait, that’s it.

But seriously, have you tried a kale chip before? Your taste buds basically shrivel up and die. You can apologize to your mouth all you want, but it won’t let you forget. Also, the smell of roasted kale lingers for days. Every time you open the oven door, it’s like Patrick Star breathing his sundae-laden breath fumes over everyone as he and Spongebob ponder the results of having eaten “some roast beef, some chicken, [and] a pizza.”

Disgusting greenery aside, Gundy is the current Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator and has worked as a Sooner assistant for 20 years. That marks Bob Stoops’ first season in Norman, and that was even after Gundy spent a brief stint as an OU grad assistant a few years before.

While he may have been a player before the turn of the century, his time spent as an OU assistant makes him eligible for this ‘most hated since 2000’ list.

Of course, Gundy, the younger brother of Mike, was a Sooner quarterback in the early 1990s. It’s an entirely impressive Oklahoma bloodline and makes one want to vomit crimson and cream multi-colored swirls.

I mean, doesn’t the guy entertain overtures from some random directional Louisiana school? Does he really like coaching at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium that much?
