1. Dan Mullen, Florida

Of all the first-year head coaches last season, Dan Mullen probably had the best year. He not only led the Gators to a 10-3 record, but he also managed to come up with victories against two of his top 10 opponents — the last of which being against Michigan in the Peach Bowl.

In addition to finishing the season in the top 10 — at No. 7 — the Gators managed to make another top 10 list with their 2019 recruiting class coming in at No. 9 just ahead of Clemson. And, as luck would have it, they were able to hang on to that same spot for the 2020 recruiting team rankings coming just ahead of Texas A&M.

With all this success on the field and on the recruiting trail, Mullen certainly seems to be up to the task of getting the Gators back to into the national title conversation, but he’ll need to take actually win a championship if he  ever wants to be put into the same sentence as Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier.
