Texas A&M Football: 6 players to watch during 2019 fall camp
A former University of Oregon commit, Elijah Blades enters the season as a bit of a wild card in what is currently a wide-open competition in the Aggie’s secondary. After a pair of strong seasons for JUCO powerhouse Arizona Western, the California-native is looking to contribute immediately.
Rated as the No. 1 defensive back prospect out of the JUCO ranks last season, Blades’ blazing speed and ability to break on the ball are intriguing on film. He’ll provide the Maroon and White with some experience and a sense of fearlessness that the secondary severely lacked last season.
Alongside the JUCO transfer will be incoming freshman Erik Young and injury-prone veteran Clifford Chattman, who are also vying for an opportunity to unseat incumbent starters, Myles Jones and Deboine Renfro.
