Clemson owns the conference, but the Coastal division is up for grabs, and most of the conference has been down in recent years. This schedule is bookended with tough matchups against elite, playoff-quality teams. However, between those, there’s a large group of winnable games.
That doesn’t guarantee they’ll win all of them, but Georgia Tech doesn’t face a schedule that ranks with the toughest in the country.
Prediction: 4-8, 3-5 ACC
The record, on its own, doesn’t look pretty. For Geoff Collins and the Yellow Jackets, however, it will be a competitive 4-8. Matchups with Clemson and Georgia have blowout potential, but aside from that, this team is talented enough to play most of the schedule close. There will be a learning curve for the offense though, and it’s likely that a few key mistakes per game will really hurt this team.
The 2019 season will be a year of change for the Yellow Jackets, but that’s actually good. Atlanta, along with surrounding areas, is one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Collins now sits right in the middle of that. The future is exciting for what could potentially be a sleeping giant of college football.
