Big 12: Charlie Brewer, Baylor

Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy is no longer underrated as he has gotten more and more attention this offseason, and rightfully so. With that said, Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer seems to be the quarterback that isn’t mentioned in the conversations over Big 12 quarterbacks.

We always seem to hear about Jalen Hurts, Sam Ehlinger and Purdy, but not much mention of Brewer. The three guys just mentioned are studs and deserve all the publicity they get, but Brewer can sling it, too, and is a big reason why Baylor football fans are excited for the 2019 season.

Brewer is heading into his junior year and has been the primary quarterback for the Bears since taking over the job during the second half of his freshman season. In his one and a half seasons as the starting quarterback, he has thrown for over 4,500 yards, 30 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He has also added seven touchdowns on the ground and over 500 yards rushing.

Baylor was 7-6 with a bowl win over Vanderbilt last year largely thanks to Brewer.

Brewer is a good athlete who can do enough with his legs to force the defense to have to be aware of it, and can also beat you with his arm. He has continued to get better and better and I see 2019 as being his best year yet.

Below is a clip of Brewer using his legs to extend the play, keeping his eyes downfield, and delivering a good ball to an open receiver for a touchdown.

Watch out for Brewer as he takes over the Big 12 in 2019.
