Texas Tech football: What can we expect from Year 1 of Matt Wells?
By John Scimeca
Passing attack should lead offense again
The Air Raid attack did not disappoint last season, even though returning starting quarterback Alan Bowman missed four games with an injured lung. Bowman still managed to throw for 2,638 yards, including 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Several talented skill position players return, including 2018’s three leading rushers and wide out T.J. Vasher, who is recovering from an injury this offseason.
Last year’s passing attack averaged 352 yards per game, good for third-best in the nation and tops in the Big 12.
An offense that averaged 37.3 points per game was often hampered by untimely turnovers (good for an overall minus-4 turnover margin for the season), something that can be improved under Wells.
