Now is the time to put Notre Dame on upset alert. We talked about how Bowling Green did not have the “recipe” to pull off a win over Notre Dame. Well, Virginia Tech does indeed.

The Virginia Tech Hokies have an incredible coach in Justin Fuente. In addition, the Irish will be just one week away from an overwhelmingly emotional away win against Michigan. And of course, after tough games that are late in the season, injuries are incredibly common.

More from Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Justin Fuente’s coaching performance has slowly gotten worse over the years he has been at Virginia Tech. He is likely to be on the hot seat and could use a big win to keep his job. All that combined creates a situation where the Irish are at risk of a home loss. But, that’s just it, a risk.

With the game in South Bend, there won’t be much opportunity for the Hokies to gain momentum throughout the game. The Irish will have ample opportunity to squash any confidence gained from big plays throughout the matchup.

It will be tight, but the Irish will avoid the scare.

Final: Virginia Tech 17, Notre Dame 21 (7-1)
