UCF Football: Knights out to prove they’re here to stay in 2019
By Kyle Grondin
UCF football finally suffered a loss at the hands of LSU but after two straight New Year’s Six bowls, it’s out to prove it’s here to stay.
After two conference championships, a controversially-claimed national title and angering an entire country, UCF finally lost a football game.
The Knights had won 25 straight before losing to LSU in the Fiesta Bowl in 2019. Started by Scott Frost and continued by Josh Heupel, the Knights took speed to a whole other level in Orlando, and have continually been one of the top scoring teams in the country.
The talent this team has at its skill position can rival a lot of Power Five schools in the country, and they’ll look to be the Group of Five favorite for a New Year’s Six bowl bid again, boasting a strong and experienced roster for 2019.
The question always comes whether it’s UCF, Boise State or any other small conference school that came before them: Are they here to stay?
Staying competitive this many years in a row has proven to be extremely difficult for any program, and the Knights doing it back to back seasons is the most successful example ever seen. But with the loss of superstar McKenzie Milton, questions loom despite the deep roster at UCF.
