There are two irrefutable facts about the Northwestern Wildcats: they don’t beat themselves and they play as hard as any team in the country. That is their mindset because they have to. Their margin is so small, that one or two mistakes could cost them a game — that might change this season, though.
If Hunter Johnson is everything everyone thinks he is, he’s the game changer the Wildcats need to get back to Indianapolis.
However, they aren’t the only ones that got better in the offseason. Nebraska, Minnesota and even Illinois are all poised for improved seasons. Their schedule is difficult right off the bat, going to Palo Alto to play the Stanford Cardinal. They do get Ohio State and Iowa at home, but they go on the road and play Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Prediction: 9-3, 7-2 Big Ten
Johnson is the key to Northwestern’s success. If he’s outstanding the ‘Cats have an opportunity for a magical run this year.
