1. Hawaii’s offense will keep this close

For the aforementioned McDonald, a big part of the quarterback’s success was his primary weapon. John Ursua was an electric weapon who left early for the NFL. He gained 1,343 yards and led the nation with 16 receiving touchdowns.

Despite his departure, the Rainbow warriors don’t have to look far to replace Ursua. JoJo Ward and Cedric Byrd will be a very good tandem of senior receivers for McDonald to target. Both receivers have production of their own to speak of, each catching nine touchdown passes. They are absolutely prepared to take on more significant roles.

In this game, there shouldn’t be much of a feeling out period. Eight total starters return from a year ago, so this unit shouldn’t need much time to get the wheels rolling once again.

This passing offense was first in the Mountain West, and ninth in the nation. Hawaii flies under the radar, but make no mistake, this offense is very good. McDonald and company will keep this one close, and maybe even pull off the upset.
