Receivers/Tight Ends

Starting receivers: Elijah Moore, Braylon Sanders, Miles Battle
Backups: Jonathan Mingo, Tylan Knight, Dontario Drummond

This is a somewhat revamped receiving corps. Gone are stalwarts AJ Brown and DK Metcalf. Elijah Moore had a good true freshman season and he and Braylon Sanders are the most experienced of the receivers. Miles Battle redshirted last season but has a ton of upside and is a big body wide receiver.

Jonathan Mingo, a true freshman just might be the next great receiver, he’s been touted as such since fall camp started and it wouldn’t shock me if he’s an established started by the end of season. Tylan Knight is an explosive player who should see time in the slot and possibly in the backfield as well.

Wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler wants an eight or nine man rotation so expect many receivers to get playing time but Moore, Battle and Sanders figure to be the ones leaned on most heavily.

Starting tight end: Octavious Cooley
Backup: Jason Pellerin

Tight end is a scary0thin position on the depth chart for the Rebels. Octavious Cooley and Jason Pellerin are both experienced yet somewhat unproven at the same time. Cooley has never lived up to the potential everyone thought he had since he’s been on campus. He flashed that potential a few times last season but converted quarterback Jason Pellerin continues to push him for playing time.

Either way I think Ole Miss will get quality play out of both players, but if Cooley really ascends, he can be a major threat for the offense.
