Kentucky was one of the surprise teams in all of college football last year. The Wildcats won 10 games and ended a 31-game losing streak to Florida. Kentucky beat Mississippi State by three touchdowns in 2018 and didn’t let the Bulldogs offense even put up a fight. The Bulldogs’ defense played well, but was left on the field way too long.

This year, Kentucky is without several of their stars from the 2018 team, but should still be competitive and projected to make another bowl game. The Wildcats’ defense will be stout as always and if Terry Wilson can take the next step as a quarterback they could find a way to win some games that they aren’t favored.

However, this game will not be one of Kentucky’s wins.

Kentucky will be coming off a game against Florida and this will be Mississippi State’s opening game in SEC play. I expect another defensive struggle, but this year the Bulldogs’ offense finds a way to get the job done and find ways to score in the clutch.

Final Score: Kentucky 17, Mississippi State 24 (4-0, 1-0 SEC)
