10. University of Georgia: Sanford Stadium
There is no conference quite like the SEC, as the winner of the conference is a guaranteed lock to play in the College Football Playoff. Producing countless NFL players every year, the SEC has turned into the cream of the crop when it comes to college football conferences. The Georgia Bulldogs are one of the premier teams to play in it right now.
Georgia plays its games inside Sanford Stadium, which has not only been kind to the football program but also has hosted the 1966 Summer Olympics. The 10th-largest stadium in college football, Sanford Stadium can seat over 95,000 Bulldogs fans on game day, making it an extremely tough place to play.
Named after Dr. Steadman Vincent Sanford, the stadium hosted its first game way back in October of 1929, when an underdog Bulldogs team beat a heavily favored Yale squad, 15-0. Since then, it has been a place where opposing teams go to die, as it is not only loud, but it can be quite an intimidating place to play.
When you play at Sanford Stadium, you are playing “Between the Hedges”. In recent seasons, the Bulldogs program has had tremendous success inside its walls. It is certainly a beautiful place to go and visit if you are a fan of the Bulldogs, or just of college football, but for those teams that have to go there to play on the road, it can be a very long afternoon.
