The good

Five straight bowl trips have reenergized the Wolfpack fan base, excited to support a team that now frequents the nation’s Top 25 on a semi-regular basis.

The bad

The ceiling isn’t remarkably high at NC State — the program has reached double-digit wins just once in its’ 114-year history. That keeps expectations fairly muted.

The bottom line

Dave Doeren’s steadying impact on the NC State program has brought about a period of steady improvement which hasn’t been seen in Raleigh for some time. A program known for their inconsistency is trending in the right direction keeping pace with ACC heavyweights like Virginia Tech, Florida State and Miami in the process.

A fanbase in the middle of basketball country has experienced an uptick in support for their football program. It’s easy to stay positive when times are good, but for now, NC State is settling in as one of the conference’s most faithful fanbases.
