33. Georgia Tech

The good

Georgia Tech has always been pretty good. The bad years aren’t so bad; the good years aren’t that great. The fanbase has the intellect to set reasonable expectations and the football team has consistently hovered near them with a few notable deviations above and below.

The bad

The Yellow Jackets find themselves at a tipping point. The departure of Paul Johnson and the triple option will force the program to find a new identity. There’s hope, but the current state is filled with uncertainty.

The bottom line

John Heisman and Bobby Dodd are legendary names, not just in Georgia Tech football history, but in the history of college football. The 222-0 win over Cumberland, five top-10 finishes in the 1950s underscore the level’s of success this program is capable of achieving. Whether or not they’ll reach those mountains in the current world remains to be seen.

Give Georgia Tech credit for this — they’re willing to try. The program and it’s fans wait with bated breath to see what this new era will become.
