The bottom line

As far as Pac-12 brands go, Arizona State has a firm grasp on the tier below the blue bloods. The talent profile is consistent enough for them to be contenders for a conference championship every few years and fans seem to understand the capabilities of their program.

Expectations are far from unreasonable and fans are, usually, willing to stick things out during the bad times. Unfortunately for the Sun Devils, those extremes can vary on a week to week basis. As long as they maintain the upper hand over rival Arizona, things are understood to be going well.
