30. TCU

The good

TCU is one of the few teams which have vaulted themselves from the Group of 5 to the Power 5 level. They’ve proved they have the commitment, talent and fan support of the upper tier of programs in the nation.

The bad

Despite its prime location in Fort Worth, Texas, TCU is a small private school in the midst of a big college football world. Outside pressures from fellow Big 12 members and a smaller fan base limit how loud TCU’s national impact can become, even in their best years.

The bottom line

There hasn’t been any sign of complacency since the Horned Frogs made the jump from their Mountain West days to the Big 12. The bigger paycheck has been a portion of a recent revolution that has transformed this perennial BCS buster into a mainstay among the nation’s most consistent programs.

There’s never truly been a moment where it felt like TCU didn’t belong on the big stage. That’s a credit to their fans packing Amon G. Carter Stadium and their team exchanging haymakers with the bluebloods in their own conference.
