19. Virginia Tech

The good

There are few experiences more haunting than the electricity of the home crowd at Lane Stadium when Metallica’s Enter Sandman reverberates through the air. When you think about home field advantages, this is close to the gold standard.

The bad

Staying power is hard for any program in college football and recent years have been tougher than Hokies might have hoped for after Frank Beamer’s remarkable run of eight consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins.

The bottom line

A confusing loss to Old Dominion in 2018 aside, the totality of Virginia Tech’s body of work as a program and a fanbase is impressive. Any collective which makes a concrete structure rumble is deserving of praise.

A slew of programs attempted to transition out of the Big East to other conferences. The Hokies have arguably done so better than any other, and the deafening roar of their fans confirms they believe the program is as strong as ever.
