48. Iowa State

The good

When it comes to passion, the Iowa State fan base ranks near the top of the list. Head coach Matt Campbell has harnessed that energy and turned ISU into a legitimate threat in the Big 12.

The bad

Resources and proximity will keep the Cyclones from ever becoming a true national brand. It’s a tight-knit community in a small college football niche.

The bottom line

Jack Trice Stadium is a dangerous place to play. Oklahoma and Texas might be the league’s superpowers, but Iowa State has done enough under Campbell to establish themselves as worthy adversaries. What this fan base lacks in depth they make up for in intensity. How zealous they will be when the time comes to hire a new coach remains to be seen.

Iowa State is the perfect example of a fanbase and a program seizing the good days and riding them as far as they can. The nation has gotten a deeper insight into what goes on in Aimes in recent year, and that’s a good thing.
