7. Nebraska

The good

With no pro sports in the vicinity, the Huskers are the main attraction every Saturday. Fans drive from around the state to fill Memorial Stadium and the crowd. The sellout streak has spanned more than 50 seasons and has shown no signs of slowing down.

The bad

Unlike the other blue blood programs in this tier, Nebraska lacks immediate access to the nation’s elite talent pools. It’s hard to convince kids from Texas, Florida and California to leave home and spend four years in the midwest. That limitation makes the prospects of a return to former glory hard to fathom.

The bottom line

Nebraska’s 25-year run under Tom Osborne was one of the most impressive stretches in modern college football. His group had three national championships in four years (1994, 1995, 1997) and 17 top-10 finishes.

Championship-Level passion is still there. Nebraska fans are hoping the winning returns. Playing in the Big Ten won’t make the challenge any easier, but the Huskers aren’t leaving the spotlight, regardless of their win-loss record.
