1. Ohio State

The good

It’s easy to be a fan when you win every year. Ohio State is no stranger to national titles, but their fans have had more heartbreak than elation over the past decade. No matter the circumstances and no matter the arena, Ohio State fans are everywhere, championing their cause and repping their school. The picture above shows 99,000 fans at the Ohio State spring game in 2015.

The bad

Reality tends to get skewed when college football is involved. Some of the Ohio State faithful have overlooked transgressions of former coaches, whether major or minor, in an earnest effort to defense the Buckeyes at all costs.

The bottom line

All of the fans in this upper tier have rich tradition, winning programs and years upon years of showing up and being loud. To separate between No. 1 and No. 10 requires an acknowledgment of a razor-thin margin which exists and can vary wildly from season to season and year to year.

At Ohio State, though, regardless of the year, the coach or the team, passion overflows. They travel well, they’re loud in person and online. There’s never an empty seat or a result which doesn’t get magnified 100-fold, and that goes for the big wins and the head-scratching losses. For better or worse, there’s no fanbase more fanatical than Ohio State.
