46. Baylor

The good

Everything is bigger in Texas, giving room for multiple college football fan bases in the Lone Star State. Baylor has carved out their own portion of that large pie for themselves.

The bad

Scandals have rocked the program and done irreparable damage to the Baylor brand. At no fault of the fans, the Bears national perception is still somewhat tainted.

The bottom line

Fans in Waco aren’t afraid to put themselves up against the best program in the Big 12. Although this program has lacked the staying power, they’ve had spurts of success which have raised eyeballs around the country. Even in the rough years, fans have hung tough, remaining faithful to the Bears in part because of those memories of what can be done when things are rolling.

Building a new, more fit-for-purpose stadium with a picturesque view on the river serves as a picture of this unique collection of fans from this Texas private school. They know quality football and have the patience to wait for it to return to Waco in time.
