All those players who flocked to Lubbock in hopes of flourishing under Kliff Kingsbury will now have to play for somebody else, new Tech head coach Matt Wells. He led Utah State to a 44-34 record over the past seven years that included two bowl victories, but the Red Raiders’ offense will likely take a step back in the creativity department.

This bodes well for the Mountaineers and every other defense in college football, but will Brown & Co. capitalize on the regime change? WVU football is obviously dealing with their own alterations, but it’s easier to adapt when the quarterback can turn around and hand it off to any number of guys.

Expect the ‘Eers to come out swinging in this one, trying to get over the .500 hump they’ve battled the past three weeks. This could be a make-or-break game for WVU, and I think it’ll make this team.

Prediction: Texas Tech 28, West Virginia 34 (5-4, 3-3)
