College football is back. What teams need to be concerned about being upset in Week 1 and starting the 2019 season behind the pack?
The long offseason has finally come to an end and it is time to get the games started. Your favorite sport is back in business. Cancel your fall plans if you have not already done so. It is time to spend Saturday afternoons at tailgates, in the stadiums or just on your couch at home in front of the TV.
However you watch college football does not matter. It’s time to settle in for a few good months on the march to the College Football Playoff.
So many things separate college football from other sports. The pageantry, traditions, and the passion of the fan bases to name a few. Another is the upsets. Nothing is better than watching a highly-ranked team go down in flames, particularly if you have no rooting interest in the match up. Nothing beats the elation of being a fan of the team pulling off the stunner. Conversely, nothing feels worse than being a fan of a power team and watching them be upset.
Each week we will be scouring the college football landscape, looking for matchups having upset potential. The most common ones will be ranked opponents versus unranked opponents or Power Five versus Group of Five. It will also be based on point spreads, which are provided by Bovada.
The Week 1 games are difficult to predict simply because of the unknowns of teams. They have spent all of the spring and summer practicing and training against one another and now they have to face an actual opponent. Here are the five teams we predict to be on upset watch.
