2. Colorado’s talent will overwhelm Colorado State

The Colorado State Rams have two problems. First, there’s an obvious talent gap between the Buffaloes and the Rams. One of the things that got lost in last season’s seven-game losing streak is the skill position talent in Boulder.

Steven Montez is a legit quarterback throwing to one of the best wide receiver combinations in the country, preseason All-American Laviska Shenault and K.D. Nixon. Shenault had a big game against the Rams last year — expect the same this season.

Second, the Rams bring the least amount of production from last season of any team in the country. The Rams surrendered 451.8 yards and 36.8 points per game last season.

Opening against a quarterback the caliber of Montez and wide receivers the caliber of Shenault and Nixon isn’t exactly when you want a defense that is  young and inexperienced.

Although the Buffs will be young at running back, their passing game should open lanes to run through, and the Rams run defense isn’t very good either.
