USC Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Fresno State in Week 1
By Dante Pryor
1. Trojans win big by pulling away in second half
The Air-Raid is new, and offensive coordinator Graham Harrell has been intentional about how he’s given the playbook to his offense. He’s giving it in chunks to the offense, so that it won’t seem so overwhelming.
There might not be a lot of variety in what you see from the Trojans in this game, but you will see two things that will eventually overwhelm the Bulldogs. You will see superior athletes especially at receiver. The Bulldogs have the pleasure of trying to stop Michael Pittman, Jr., Ammon-Ra St. Brown, and Tyler Vaughns along with their 159 combined receptions and 15 touchdown receptions.
If that’s not enough, the Trojans go three more deep with Velus Jones, Jr., Devon Williams and freshman Munir McClain; all three have size and speed like the receivers in front of them.
Fresno State will throw the proverbial kitchen sink at the Trojans, but their depth on offense, and the Bulldogs’ lack of depth on the same side of the ball will eventually wear down their defense and the Trojans will begin to pull away in the third quarter with the game eventually getting out of hand in the fourth. USC wins 41-20.
