Florida State Football: 3 takeaways from tough loss to Boise State in Week 1
1. Boise State controlled the clock
Even when Florida State was in control of the game, the Broncos controlled the clock.
Florida State scored on several big plays. The Seminoles had 75-yard and 58-yard touchdown passes as well as a 38-yard touchdown run. Boise State stuck with its game plan and chewed out the clock.
Boise State had the ball over two times the amount that Florida State had it — the Broncos had it for over 40 minutes while the Seminoles had it for less than 20 minutes. The Broncos had 214 yards on the ground and kept the ball out of the Seminole offense’s hands.
The time of possession being so lopsided had an affect on the outcome of the game as the Broncos simply had more chances than the Seminoles. The Broncos will rely on holding on to the ball longer than the other time for the rest of the year. The Seminoles need to be able to put some drives together instead of relying on big time plays to happen.
